Thursday: LeNeveu cleared waivers, and will report to Hartford.

Wednesday afternoon:  As expected, this was a one day thing for LeNeveu. He’s on waivers today, to be reassigned to Hartford if he clears.

Wednesday morning: This happened yesterday before the loss to the Isles, and the game/storm kept us from really posting about it until now. In response to their need for a backup goalie last night, the Rangers signed David LeNeveu, who was on an ATO with Hartford, to a one-year, two-way contract. LeNeveu will serve as the backup to Cam Talbot while Henrik Lundqvist is out with the flu.

LeNeveu was actually Ranger property once before, when he was acquired with Frederik Sjostrom, Josh Gratton, and a 5th round pick (Roman Horak) for Al Montoya and Marcel Hossa. Interesting fact: Horak was sent to Calgary in a deal for Tim Erixon, and Erixon was sent to Columbus in the Rick Nash trade. So, LeNeveu is tied to this Ranger team in more ways than one.

The signing puts the Rangers at 48 contracts (max of 50). This is a minor signing, but it really does illustrate the lack of goaltending depth in the farm.
