Game 12: Take advantage of a bad team in Buffalo

Photo: Newsday

Tonight the lowly Sabres are in town, one game removed from dealing their best player to the Islanders. Buffalo is without John Scott tonight, so that’s one less goon to worry about. This is a very bad Sabres team, and the Rangers should really be looking to build off their strong win on Tuesday against the Isles. Did I mention how this is not a good Buffalo team yet?

Buffalo is a tough team to figure out. In fact, aside from their constant attempts to take out the opposition’s best player, we haven’t really been able to pinpoint a specific forechecking system. Same goes for the defensive zone system. (All jokes aside, they run a crappy 2-1-2 and a low zone collapse). On special teams, the Sabres run an umbrella powerplay and a hybrid penalty kill.
