Scott Arniel joins Rangers as assistant coach

Looks like the Rangers have found their third assistant coach, as Katie Strang is reporting that Scott Arniel is going to be joining Ulf Samuelsson and Benoit Allaire behind the bench with Alain Vigneault. Arniel worked with AV in the Canucks organization, when he was the head coach of the Manitoba Moose. Arniel most recently coached the Columbus Blue Jackets, but was let go during the 2011-2012 season.

  1. Whats the scoop with this guy?

And whats with the Columbus connection?? Don’t know why Dolan doesn’t just buy the Jackets and use them as a parts warehouse.

      1. Walt is actually correct. Nash played 23 mins on the PK during the regular season & 1:34 in the playoffs last season, which is sporadic at best.
He played 54 mins in 2011-12 under Arniel, 21 mins in 2010-11, 173 mins in 2009-10 under Noel/Hitch, 173 min in 2008-09 under Hitch.

        1. Suit, I’m hearing that it’s not only Brassard who had issues with Arniel, but also Nash and Dorsett. Do you know if there’s anything to that (and should we be worried if that’s true)?

          1. I haven’t heard about any issues between Arniel and Nash, and he’s on record a lot praising Dorsie. So that doesn’t make sense.

However, Brassard’s agent Alan Walsh complained publicly about Arniel when he scratched him. Retarded move by Walsh but thats par for the course with that yahoo. Still, gotta think Brass can’t be happy with this move. Most guys want to play for coaches who give them more minutes.

    1. Yup Sather should determine who he allows his newly appointed head coach to name as his assistant, based on the feelings of the third line center who has a whopping two months in a rangers jersey.

  2. I do believe all the ideas you have offered in your post. They’re very convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are too brief for novices. May just you please lengthen them a little from next time? Thank you for the post.
