Preview:

The Bruins have been the team to beat thus far this season, compiling an impressive 8-1-1 record. The Rangers were one of those teams to hand the Bruins a loss, but much has changed since the opening week. The Bruins have rattled off 6 wins in 7,while the Rangers have won 5 of 8 and tweaked their lineup along the way.

Despite the Bruins continuing their winning ways, their powerplay is as bad as the Rangers, clicking at a 10.3% rate. Though, the Bruins haven’t put together a good power play since 2009, so I guess it’s par for the course for them. Interestingly enough, no one is calling for their assistant coach’s head up in Beantown.

Anyway, I think we all know at this point the Bruins play a 1-2-2 and a 1-4 forecheck. Like other hybrid trap teams, they will mix up their aggressiveness based on the score, the clock, etc. Since both teams have contrasting strategies and piss poor power plays, this game is likely going to be won at even-strength in the neutral zone.

Crazy Thought: More power play goals would be sweet.
