For the second year in a row and the third time in four years, the Boston College Golden Eagles won the Beanpot Championship, topping Northeastern 7-6 last night. Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Ranger prospect Chris Kreider (1st, 2009), who scored two goals and added an assist on the game winner. Kreider also won the MVP of the tournament, and is starting to show that his slow start this season is beginning to fade.

Many fans, including myself, have been anxiously awaiting Kreider to turn pro. He has had slow starts in his two years at BC, which is a little troubling. However, he has shown that he can be a dominating force against the world’s top competition in the World Junior Championship, he can be a leader, and he can excel in big games. It’s tough to say when Kreider should turn pro, especially with the rumors that Glen Sather wants to sign him after this season, when he is eligible to play in the AHL for a year. Either way, it looks like the Rangers have a stud on their hands.
