STATE OF THE BLUESHIRTS: The Rangers have played one game in eight days, a much needed break from the very hectic schedule they had in November and early December. Although the Rangers lost in overtime to Tampa Bay, they played very well and Dan Ellis essentially stole the game for the Lightning. Tonight, the Rangers are in the World’s Worst Coliseum to face off against the Islanders, who are on a bit of a hot streak. They have won three in a row and four of their last five, with that one loss in overtime. They have been getting superb goaltending throughout too. This is a must win for the Rangers, as they need to take points from the lower teams in the East to stay in the playoff picture.

CRAZY THOUGHT: Avery gets a Gordie Howe hat trick, Lundqvist gets another shutout.
