STATE OF THE BLUESHIRTS: Tom Renney makes his return to the Garden this afternoon. Renney took over the Rangers head coaching duties after the fire sale in 2004, and remained until he was fired in 2009. Under Renney, the Rangers made the playoffs for the first time in nine years when the lockout ended, and made the playoffs for the first three years after the lockout. Renney was replaced by John Tortorella on February 23, 2009. The Renney/Tortorella Rangers also made the playoffs that season. Henrik Lundqvist still has the flu, so Martin Biron will get the start tonight.

CRAZY THOUGHT: Renney gets a standing ovation.
