As per Andrew Gross, the roster for tonight’s preseason game against Boston:

F: Ales Kotalik, Christopher Higgins, Brian Boyle, Chris Drury, Ryan Callahan, Dane Byers, P.A. Parenteau, Artem Anisimov, Evgeny Grachev, Enver Lisin, Matt Maccarone, Donald Brashear.

D: Dan Girardi, Marc Staal, Alexei Semenov, Mike Sauer, Michael Del Zotto, Matt Gilroy

G: Matt Zaba, Steve Valiquette

The race for the 5th, 6th and 7th defense spots begins today with Semenov, Sauer, Del Zotto and Gilroy all playing tonight. It will definitely be something interesting to watch, and hopefully I’ll be able to catch a re-run of the game, as there’s no way I’m getting home in time to watch the game. Such is life.

Watching Gilroy make the transition from BU to the NHL will be very interesting to watch. Let’s hope it’s a smooth transition.

When the Bruins roster gets posted, I’ll have it here. Assume it’s a mix of vets and rookies, just like the Rangers roster, but no David Krejci.

Update 3:30pm: The Bruins lines have been posted. The notables playing: Marco Sturm, Milan Lucic, Blake Wheeler, Chuck Kobasew, and Zdeno Chara. The Rangers will be facing their two toughest players in Chara and Lucic, so expect Donald Brashear to get some extra time.

As for Rangers lines, Andrew Gross has them:

Christopher Higgins-Chris Drury-Ales Kotalik
Evgeny Grachev-Artem Anisimov-Ryan Callahan
Donald Brashear-Brian Boyle-P.A. Parenteau
Dane Byers-Matt Maccarone-Enver Lisin
Marc Staal-Matt Gilroy
Michael Del Zotto-Dan Girardi
Alexei Semenov-Mike Sauer
G: Steve Valiquette, Matt Zaba

For those questioning, that means Valliquette will be starting tonight.

Hockey, welcome back, we missed you.
