Fresh off their 3-1 loss to LA, the Rangers are in San Jose in what could be an interesting matchup. The Sharks just let go of Pete DeBoer in what was a hockey related firing. Bob Boughner takes over as head coach. He was last the head coach of Florida from 2017-2019, putting up a combined record of 80-62-22 (or 80-84).
San Jose has had bad goaltending for a few years now, but the kicker this year is they are also one of the worst teams in expected-goals rates (yes, the Rangers are still worse by far), so their process wasn’t overly great either. Makes you wonder, though, what would have happened had their goaltending be even close to league average.
