Game 44: Another date in Brooklyn

The Rangers and Islanders finish up their home and home and their 2018-2019 season matchups today in Brooklyn. Thursday’s spirited affair left the Rangers with a last minute loss in regulation, and I’m sure the Blueshirts would like to keep the season series tied.

The Blueshirts dominated most of that game, but it was the one shot they allowed in the third that got through on some pretty terrible defensive play. The penalty kill was a disaster for the Rangers too, so staying out of the box would be a step in the right direction.

#TheVision is always something on the minds of fans, but beating the Islanders should be a bigger priority.

Oh my, even DQ decided to finally sit Pionk. Hell must have just frozen over — now poor ADA has to pair up with Staal.

Have I missed something or has anyone heard anything regarding Hayes’ mysterious upper body injury?

Crazy Prediction: The Chytil-Strome-Fast line is again the best line for the Rangers. Zucc actually shoots a puck on goal and scores one off Nick Leddy’s arse.

Why is Stahl playing after his garbage performance. When it gets rough rather have Smith.
Frick n Frak on pregame show say Pionk is hurt. So much for healthy scratch

Hey Walt, we call that Salon talk over here. Zero sources and it keeps getting said by the same person but oh well.

Yo Tanto, Brooks said it was lingering issues from when he crashed into the boards. It was said that he’s been playing hurt ever since the first Yotes game. I guess he wanted to continue his monster scoring streak and push it out for the boys? It’s quite common for player’s to randomly take a seat due from a injury in the past.

Btw I wouldn’t consider Pionk’s situation as Quinn personally taking him out the lineup. He has been injured which was why he didn’t play in today’s game, ADA caught a break. Unless you think Pionk has been “dogging” during today’s morning skate?

I was going by what Dave wrote above, a healthy scratch. Of course it was an injury, St. Pionk must never sit!

    Stahl ugh
    No hits.
Is it the system or just ineptness? The puck gets to the strong side point and our SSW is down in the circle.. Time after time the opposition gets free shots. Why

Staal isn’t gonna engage in hits. He will also shy away from any incoming hits. We just seen Nash retire. He knew it was time. Hated seeing him skating tight after the concussions he had with the Rangers. Zib is another one, one big hit and after that how many can he take?

Georg looking good. I’m all in favor of giving him the rest of the games until the bye week. Rest Hank (who needs it) and let’s see what Georg has.

It makes sense. But imo makes more sense to get Hank 2 weeks off to clear his head, rest, and come back to face whatever hell awaits …

Tony DeAngelo is so bad, he needs to be the 1st one to go. Bad decisions all the time, bad temperament to be a D man…He has no idea what to do when he gets the puck in the D zone.

Hmm, I only caught the third period, and he had a good period from what I saw. He needs to play not rust in the press box.

Good game, Rangers defencemen were more engaged on the attack and the PK was better. The Rangers can skate when they want too and that was the difference in this match.

Only caught the final period, but the Rangers played quite well. The Isles might not be quite as hate worthy as in their glory years, but it is still always nice to beat them. 😊

Pionk needs sometime in the press box. He has talent but not seeing any improvement in the defending part of his game. While he will never be the next Scott Stevens, he can be more effective if he learn to use body position and how to break up plays.

He certainly has speed which you can’t teach. The way Freddie was holding the shoulder I doubt he skates tomorrow so ADA should dress again ( I hope )

Zucc’s play has improved significantly. If his value is lower than we think it is or will be at the deadline, then resign him. Shipping Hayes out and whatever other smaller pieces would be our best “value” move. Moving Zucc for a third rounder or lower would be a huge loss…

what other than Fan emotional equity do you gain by not trading zucc for a 5th rounder if all that’s there? utterly ridiculous statement imo.
