Rangers recall Lias Andersson

The Rangers have recalled forward Lias Andersson from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Andersson will be an immediate substitute for the injured Brett Howden, who is out for at least tomorrow. Andersson is off to a fantastic start in Hartford, with a line of 4-8-12 in 14 games.

Howden was injured in the win over Buffalo on Monday night, going hard into the boards. It does not appear to be serious, but the Rangers want to keep him out as a precautionary measure.

My guess is that this may be an audition for more time for Andersson, and if he performs well, the Rangers will be forced to keep him around. If I’m counting correctly, they wouldn’t need to make that decision until Fredrik Claesson or Boo Nieves are ready to return.

"Rangers recall Lias Andersson", 4 out of 5 based on 8 ratings.

Can’t wait to watch Lias play. He will likey start on the 4th line until he gets his skates wet.

I’d be surprised if he started 4th line, I think at least top nine.

I have no idea what Gorton’s plan is right now. None at all.

It appears that Kevin Hayes days may be numbered. I say give Anderson the job and go with it. They need to trade mister Ditsy Doodle (and throw in the dud Bush) while they have some value for a decent young player and a high draft pick.

This could absolutely spark Chytil too. I’m interested to see how he responds with Lias being called up…. especially if Andersson plays well and scores a goal. Filip may get some pressure here.

I expect Lias to play well. He wants to stick and stay here, big time. This kid is all heart.

On a side note… took my son to last night’s game and waited out front beforehand. We met Chytil, Howden, Pionk, Lettieri, and a few others. But I have to say, these kids could not have been nicer. They all stayed and signed for everyone… and took the time to take pictures with whoever wanted. I’m sure they don’t mind too much when they’re all newly NHL players. But it was impressive, and absolutely made my kids day.

Injury is a blessing in disguise for Mr Andersson. Unfortunately that’s how he was going to get called up here. This will only last for a couple of games though.

Until Hayes is traded, that is? You know Hayes is gone as soon as Howden is healthy, right?

until you realize that it is for one of our youngsters getting hurt….

all we can hope for is that he plays well enough to stay up, and they realize McLeod is best served in Hartfford.

I don’t get it, we have 100 centers on the team. Why now? What, is he going to center Cody, as to put a anchor on his side like Chytil?
