rangers sabres henrik lundqvist

The Rangers have won three straight games. These are words we probably didn’t think would be uttered at all this season. But with a pair of shootout wins out west, the Rangers made it a true winning streak last night with a 3-1 win over the Sabres. Henrik Lundqvist was downright brilliant yet again, and kept the Blueshirts in it by stopping all 15 shots he faced in the first period.

The Blueshirts came out a little sluggish, taking just five shots in that first period. They didn’t really pick it up either, allowing 40 shots. Lundqvist was huge in this game as the Rangers bled shots left and right. Lundqvist stopped 39 shots, and the Rangers got some timely goals by finding open space in the offensive zone. It certainly wasn’t a pretty win.

Rangers 1, Sabres 0

This is just a beautiful shot by Neal Pionk, off a great feed from Vlad Namestnikov. Buffalo wasn’t really out of position defensively here.

Rangers 2, Sabres 0

This play is a brilliant all around offensive play by this line. Jimmy Vesey and Brett Howden with a nice little passing play where Vesey finds the hole in the coverage. He gets open because two men go to Howden, leaving Vesey that open for the snipe.

Rangers 2, SabresĀ

I don’t need to add any more analysis than Fitz here already provided. Just a terrible turnover by Brendan Smith here.

Rangers 3, Sabres 1

Vesey empty netter.

The Rangers are getting points despite playing some relatively sloppy hockey. This is a product of their SH% coming back around, but you have to assume that Lundqvist won’t continue being Jacob deGrom out there. It is nice to see wins though. Let’s enjoy them.
