The first move of the offseason, aside from firing the coaching staff, has come. The Rangers have signed undrafted free agent forward Michael Lindqvist out of Sweden. The 23 year old put up 20-14-34 in 33 games with Farjestads in the SHL this past year.
Lindqvist has a nice shot, and sets up in the Ovi spot on the powerplay, where he scored half his goals this year. He’s a very talented, if undersized at 5’11 and 176 lbs, forward. As we’ve seen time and time again, size doesn’t mean much in terms of NHL success. I like going after talent, and Lindqvist has that.
Plus when in doubt, go with a Swede.
