After two wins to close out last week and a tough 6-in-9 stretch, the Rangers got two much needed days off. Tonight they host the Ducks, fresh off their acquisition of Adam Henrique. Henrique was a much needed add for the Ducks, who were even thinner at center than the Rangers.

As for the Blueshirts, they are finally getting Mika Zibanejad back on the top line with Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich. David Desharnais replaces Boo Nieves on the fourth line for some reason. Likely because we can’t have nice things.

Ducks Systems

Randy Carlyle has the Ducks rotating between an aggressive 1-2-2 forecheck  and a passive 1-2-2. However, they mix in a 2-1-2 forecheck on occasion depending on game situation. In the defensive zone, expect a collapsing box, which will leave the point men open for opportunities. Their powerplay (umbrella) is fairly standard. On the kill, there will be a rotation of PK strategies depending on opposition setup.

I guess I’ll shut my yap for a minute.. that was a great pass from Desharnais

  2. Stevem says:

Wow.. this 4th line is having a game… Again.. Love it

  3. HOF 19 says:

This team is looking pretty good right now …..Lets keep it going ……LETS GO RANGERS !!!!!

  4. Mythdoc says:

I’ll write more on AV in the upcoming days. I’ve been saving thoughts and observations since I last spent time on the board earlier in the year. For now, I just will say that while many dislike his manner, and many also disagree with decisions he makes, on the whole he seems to keep proving and proving that he knows what he is doing.

  5. Bloomer says:

Paul Carey should be on the powerplay.

  6. Stevem says:

Good win.. would like the shots against to come down a bit.. and good to see DD throwing pucks into the seats instead of tee shirts.. lol

  7. Mancunian Candidate says:

Hank’s SV% now up to career norms, at .918. Who’d’ve thunk it? Other than loyal, knowledgeable Ranger fans, that is.

    • Stevem says:

Hank has been fantastic.. back to a .920, GAA down to 2.59. Let’s crush Jersey on Thursday

    • Bloomer says:

After a shaky start to the season, Lundqvist is playing much better. His respectable .920 save percentage puts him in the same category as Holtby, Hellebuyck and Bobrovsky.

You are a loyal fan.. knowledgable that’s debatable.

      • Mancunian Candidate says:

It’s ok, I think you’re an idiot. You and the other Hank haters have ignored 12+ years of statistical evidence proving how good Lundqvist is. That’s pretty much the definition of two things—insanity or idiocy.

        Way to go Bloomer

  8. King Sieveqvist ! King Sieveqvist ! says:

Great win , forwards actually helped out some and moved the puck … Maybe ducks were tired some , Hank made some great saves ( where art thou E3 and ur butt boy ?) …. Need to keep chipping away at this division , can’t throw away anymore points

    • Stevem says:

Indeed, this division is tighter than a virgin… God I hope I don’t get flagged for this comment..

    • Hockey Sittoo says:

You definitely should be down to one Sieveqvist after Hank’s last 3 games…😉

    • Mancunian Candidate says:

I like the spaces between your words and your punctuation, Leather/Sieve—you’re as bad a writer as you are an evaluator of goalie talent. Must really burn you to be so flagrantly wrong about hockey, life, etc.

  9. wwpd says:

looks like Becky started the week off right too, 1 for 1 so far

    • Stevem says:

Unlike myself who sucks at predictions.. I always Eddie Mush this team.. I’m gonna go put myself in the bathroom

  10. Hockey Sittoo says:

A little context for how “Leaky Sieveqvist “ is doing. Right now for goalies with at least 20 starts he is 4th in wins, 6th in SV%, 8th in GAA, and is top 5 in both shots against and high danger shots against. This stretch since Halloween ranks right up there with his best play. Tonight was a great example of how Henrik allowed the team to find their footing and put the puck in the Ducks’ net. I don’t know if this level is sustainable, but if the team can stop bleeding shots and high danger chances I think they can make some noise come April.

    • King Sieveqvist ! King Sieveqvist ! says:

Maybe one day we can add a Cup to that list Sittoo

      • Hockey Sittoo says:

That’s the best you got? 😉 Sieveqvist, if Henrik is fortunate enough to raise the Cup I will be ecstatic. And deep down, in that grinch like heart of yours, I think you would be too…

  11. flatbush says:

I went to the game last night. First time in two years and tickets were a freebie. Sat 10 rows off the glass near the ranger bench – ticket price just stupid outrageous. Now I know why I haven’t been to a game. Anyway my point is we don’t appreciate that the game is so fast with little room on the ice. Sitting this close gives a great appreciation of how tough it is to play in the NHL. Watching on TV you see things happening and developing. The players don’t have that luxury. So when we bitch as to why this guy didn’t do this or that ( cause we saw it so clear on TV ) take a deep breath.
