Alexei Bereglazov headed back to KHL

November 6, 2017, by

Per Igor Eronko, Rangers defense prospect Alexei Bereglazov is headed back to the KHL. Bereglazov had a KHL-out clause in his contract, so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise to me. In all honesty, I’m surprised it took him this long to head back home.

The 23-year-old defenseman’s departure clears up a bit of a logjam on the Hartford blue line, but as of now the contract does remain on the books. The Rangers have a few options, but probably want to hold his rights in case he wants to come back next year. You could see him on waivers to terminate his contract too, which also wouldn’t shock me.

No biggie, I think DeAgelo, Pionk and Graves were ahead of him on the depth charts anyway. If anything we need to think about how to shed Holden and Staal from the roster.

  2. Joe says:

Like you said Tanto , NO BIGGIE…. wasn’t impressed at Traverse city… I think has was really overrated to begin with.

  3. Reenavipul says:

No point waiving him now as the team already has enough headroom in the 50 man roster v

  4. Chris F says:

Apparently the team told Bereglazov they would like to see him back next Septemeber again, so we’ll see.

  5. Robert Carroon says:

No biggie indeed. He couldn’t stay out of the penalty box and that cost the WP at least 2 games. Good luck in the KHL. Back to Meggie?

  6. Robert Carroon says:

No biggie indeed. He could not stay out of the penalty box and that cost the WP two games. His command of English was minimal whereas the other Russian on the team, Alexandar Georgiev is fluent in English and good in French. He is a real comer so lets hope the Ranger gurus don’t let him go as they did Cam Talbot.
