Lines for opening night

The lines for opening night have been set. For the first time in over a decade, that opening night lineup will not have Dan Girardi, which despite his last few seasons here, is still a weird thing to see. However the Rangers have two talented rookies cracking the lineup, and have skill up and down.

Chris Kreider-Mika Zibanejad-Pavel Buchnevich
Rick Nash-Filip Chytil-Mats Zuccarello
Michael Grabner-Kevin Hayes-JT Miller
Jimmy Vesey-David Desharnais-Paul Carey

Ryan McDonagh-Kevin Shattenkirk
Brady Skjei-Brendan Smith
Marc Staal-Tony DeAngelo

PP1: Zibanejad-Kreider-Buchnevich-Zuccarello-Shattenkirk
PP2: Nash-Desharnais-Miller-McDonagh-DeAngelo

Mere hours away…

"Lines for opening night", 5 out of 5 based on 4 ratings.

Weird in that first PP UNIT is 1-3-1 and second is 2-3 (or is it written as 3-2) or what is it?

Agreed. Why? Especially with 2 real defenseman, why not let the kid have a shot there?

The PP2 should have Hayes or Chytil, not sure how AV can put Desharnais there in that spot. It honestly makes no sense.

Hayes is on PK duty, have to manage minutes with all the penalties they’re calling early this season. It’ll probably change as the season goes on.

Desharnais actually played on PP in preseason, and was actually looking good.

I may be missing something obvious here, but who’s the second rookie?

Chytil and DeAngelo, I think. Pretty sure Tony D is still considered a rookie.

Nevermind, he played 39 games last season. I don’t know, then.

      Carey.

Carey is 29. Rookies are 26 and under, technically.

Though, for all intents and purposes, Carey is indeed a rookie.

We are Josh Anderson away from being a real contender.

I think we have a roster that can keep us in every one of the 82 games this season…..A 50 win season is what I am rooting for and will stick with until I see something that makes me change that thought……LETS GO RANGERS !!!!!
