The Rangers and Mika ZIbanejad have avoided arbitration, which was set for later today, and agreed to terms on a five-year deal. The contract will pay Zibanejad $5.35 million per season, which is where we had him pegged two months ago.

Zibanejad lost a bit of leverage when he broke his leg earlier this season, which certainly brought the cost down a bit. That said, this is a fair deal for both sides. Zibanejad gets paid and gets security. The Rangers get a young 1C with tremendous upside at what could be a bargain price down the road.
