The Rangers and Habs square off tonight in Game 6, with the Rangers attempting to close out the series. After an abysmal Game 3, the Rangers turned it on in Games 4 and 5, coming away with two wins. For the Blueshirts, it’s about consistently using their superior speed to get in on the Habs and wear them down. It worked in Game 5, as the Habs were unable to keep up after the Rangers poured it on. The same strategy will put the Rangers in the best position to win.

As for the Habs, they need to find a way to stifle the rush in the neutral zone. They were successful in Game 3 and half of Game 5, but the Rangers have been able to adjust with their two straight wins. The series has been a nail biter every single game, and this one likely won’t be any different. As long as Henrik Lundqvist continues to outplay Carey Price, the Rangers will always have a shot. Add in the team speed, and they have a real chance of closing it out tonight.

I know these things are automated, but shouldn’t they wait for morning or pre-game line rushes to get set lineups?

  2. Chris F says:

Habs lineup is going to be totally different tonight.

    Flynn in for Shaw.
    McCarron in for Mitchell.
    Davidson in for Beaulieu.

  3. HOF 19 says:

OK Rangers lets end this tonight…………LETS GO RANGERS !!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Spozo says:

It never gets old hearing how Mcdonagh was originally a 1st rounder drafted by Montreal.

Imagine they could have Mcdonagh and Weber as their top pair right now. That’s scary.

  5. Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

Good luck to us all….anything I post during the game will be gut reaction straight from the heart crazy talk….good or bad. LGR!!!!!!

  6. Chris F says:

Hey, someone who can sing finally! Good job, Danny! I miss Amirante… 🙁

  7. Spozo says:

Did I just hear that the Soft shirts are leading the playoffs in hits?

  8. Chris F says:

    Vesey, attaboy!!

    • Spozo says:

      Extra 2 for roughing????

      What a load of horseshlt!!!!!!

      • Chris F says:

Guaranteed they don’t even call that Patches cross-check if the fight didn’t ensue. But, yeah sure, since it caused a fight, let’s call it but even it out with a phantom roughing call on Vesey.

        What a joke.

  9. Bloomer says:

Not the start the rangers wanted. Rangers looking tentative with the puck. Msg jitters.

  10. Chris F says:

Why doth we insist on passing into swarms of white sweaters?

  11. HOF 19 says:

Inflict your will on them……not the opposite….C’mon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Rangers Rock says:

1st period. Outplayed out of sync, Need a cup of coffee. Someone better be a yelling in the locker room.

    • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

Yeah…that’s the answer. Look what it did for Torts….oops!

Maybe if the stars you keep insisting we have would actually play that way, bogus arm waving and gum flapping won’t be necessary.

    • paulronty says:

Ya Don Cherry just dissed “calm” coaches. Must be thinking about AV, he takes two Sominex before the game it’s rumored. Get up on the FN bench & yell when Montreal does that thugging shite!!!!

  13. Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

How can we only have 6 SOG? I thought we had elite, untouchable beasts—the finest group of young forwards in the past 50 years so I’ve been told.

Invisible when it counts, as usual.

We all know the drill with this team. We allow one more goal, we might…might, have a chance to get it to OT. Two more goals? Game over.

Most overrated group of “stars” I’ve ever seen.

As usual, it will be up to Hank to drag us over the finish line….assuming we dont get shutout.

    • paulronty says:

You are such a NIHILIST, just bring everybody down! Do you realize you just sent Chris F to the medicine cabinet for two Rivotril! ShaME!!!

      • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

What did I say that isn’t true? Isn’t this the MO of the team for what, the past seven years?

Do you believe this team is likely to score 3 goals in regulation in the playoffs (EN not included)? (I know they did the other night but that outlier).

      • Chris F says:

It’s true, Eddie. You’re giving me anxiety.

It’s kinda hard to hold on to my optimism when even you’re speaking in game induced tongues. I expect it from the others, but shame on you, sir!

        • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

I told you. I cant help myself. I go insane during games. It’s why i had to eventually leave the beat. Too emotionally invested in the outcome.

I’m not saying we won’t win this game and/or this series. I simply don’t expect our offense to suddenly become something they are not–elite.

  14. Rich S says:

    Av at his best/worst again!!!!
No excuse… montreal comes out flying rangers come out flat!!!! We are playing at home and one win away from advancing!!!!
Julien comes in with a game plan..and its working……..rangers?????????
Rangers should be credited with gentle shoves not hits!!!
Lightly brushing by an opponent is not a hit!!!!!
When mats zuccarello is your toughest forward, that’s a problem!
Again we should be dominating this team, even the announcers said the rangers defensemen ” dont know what to do when they get the puck ”….in other words …where is the coaching??????

    • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

So everything you just said…what does ANY of that have to do with coaching? It’s time for your so-called elite stars to show up. AV can’t carry their sticks for them or skate for them.

So Games 1, 4 and 5 AV outcoached Julien, but Games 2, 3 and so far 6 it’s the reverse? Players have nothing to do with it, right?

      • paulronty says:

Trade all the elite stars dammit!! Wait a minute, I thought we didn’t have any? We don’t, just a bunch of plumbers.

        • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

Good but not great players deliver good but not great results. And that’s what we’ve got.

    • roadrider says:

“rangers defensemen ” dont know what to do when they get the puck ”….in other words …where is the coaching??????”

Coaching can’t make mediocre players into good ones.

The Rangers are back to their bad puck management, sloppy passes and inability to generate offense that has cost them in this series. They were able to turn it around in Game 5 and win. Let’s see if they can do it again in this one.

      • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

RR….you got your PP goal buddy! 🙂

We are red hot now…1.000 in this game!

  15. paulronty says:

OK, are we going to take charge in the second? We better!

  16. Rangers Rock says:

    E3 eat crow

    • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

And i am eating crow why now? We scored a goal. Most likely, it’s next goal wins.

      But yeah baby! PP Goal!!!!

  17. paulronty says:

Our PP scores!! Lordy, lordy, Zucchie!!

  18. Chris F says:

What’s this? I don’t understand what just happened. What’s it called when we score with more guys on tbe ice than the other team?

  19. HOF 19 says:

GOAL…..And Mika was involved with that one too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. HOF 19 says:

Have we ever put Mika and Zucc on the same line ?

  21. Bloomer says:

Henk hang on to your stick. We talked about this ffs

  22. Chris F says:

I’m so sick of people accusing this team of lacking toughness. They might not play a heavy game during the season, but that’s because there is more open ice for them to play their speed transition game.

But when push comes to shove, when the rink shrinks, and open ice comes at a premium, this team goes toe to toe. This is by far the heaviest hitting, nastiest, most physical series in the playoffs this year and the Rangers are doling it out with equal measure.

  23. Spozo says:

I swear that’s first time I heard millers name mentioned…..
    NBC feed BTW

  24. Rangers Rock says:

It was just a matter of time!

  25. Chris F says:

    Hayes and Miller are back!

  26. HOF 19 says:

    Hayes to Zucc !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-1 RANGERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. paulronty says:

Oh man, I knew Zucchie would be dynamite with Hayes & Miller. Hayes a better passer than Stepan & controls puck better.

  28. Spozo says:

Hayes and Miller with their best shift of the series! Great work by Hayes to keep the puck alive and away from Price. Miller with the great work in the corner and Zuke finishes it!

  29. Chris F says:

Zuke giveth, and Zuke taketh away.

  30. Bloomer says:

Zuc using his magical hobbit powers tonight at msg!

  31. HOF 19 says:

This is a MUST penalty kill !!!!!

  32. Chris F says:

So, what’s up with the bloody 2 minute call?

Replay looked like Miller’s stick only clipped the visor, yet Davidson had a bloody mouth.

Do you think the refs felt that Davidson was bleeding from something previous because they saw the stick only contact the visor?

  33. Spozo says:

I envision a bruise the shape of a puck on Lundqvist’s glove hand tomorrow morning after that Weber save. Wasn’t that in a movie?

  34. Rangers Rock says:

2nd period. I think then yelling worked.

  35. wwpd says:

G putting Gallagher through the crossbar after the whistle, $$$

  36. HOF 19 says:

If we hold the lead now and start the third period with the lead I want the crowd to be so loud in the third period that we can not gear the TV play by play…………LETS GET NON-STOP LOUD CROWD………….LETS GO RANGERS !!!!!!!!!!!

  37. paulronty says:

Hank proving he’s a better goalie than Price. I always tell my grandson that Hank is better than Price. That first goal that Price should have had changed the momentum big time.

    • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

And on this, we are in complete agreement. Price is great but hasn’t yet proven he’s a playoff beast. Hank has.

I think we should change things up though and put Raanta in for the third. Got to keep the backup sharp after all! 🙂

  38. Spozo says:

Milbury (yes I know you must consider the source) just ripped Julien while applauding AV for the matchups after the TV timeout that had the Hayes Miller, Zuke line on the ice for the last goal.

  39. Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

Zuc is a GOD! Anyone still think our 2015 season wasn’t ruined once he got hurt?

Hank….the ultimate God! What a save on Weber! I thought it would rip his hand off!

Price needed to stop that first goal. Habs fans will kill him for that.

Miller…count on him to do something incredibly stupid once per game. Almost cost us again. I can handle it if he actually would score one of these days.

And Milbury just said AV outcoached Claude Genius….so there! 🙂

Do you realize that our elite untouchable beasts (greatest young forwards of ALL time!) have yet to have a 2 goal lead at ANY point in this series (except the Game 1 EN)? Even Montreal has done that!

Maybe tonight will be the night that changes. One more goal and we will win…guaranteed!!!!!

  40. HOF 19 says:

Simple…..be the next team to score !!!!!

  41. HOF 19 says:

    Hit……..the……..dang………net .

  42. paulronty says:

Oh God, what a lame call that is on Kreider!!!!!

    • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

No…what a lame, lazy brainless play. Par for the course for Kreider, who might have the worst hockey instincts of any highly talented player I’ve ever seen.

Fortunately, his teammates bailed him out.

      • paulronty says:

Jeez Eddie visit your optometrist tomorrow, the stick was up but made no contact.

        • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

No need whatsoever for his stick to be even near his face there, contact or not. Stick down….basic hockey protocol. He also didnt hustle on the play and allowed the Habs to gain possession. Lazy and sloppy.

But, as luck would have it, I have an eye doctor appointment this upcoming week, so thanks for your concern. 🙂

          • Bloomer says:

Did kreider take your lunch money when u were a kid eddie?Lame call. Rangers beat the habs and the refs to advance to the next round😄

  43. HOF 19 says:

Canadiens are gonna start pressing now !……..Clock is ticking louder AND LOUDER…………………LETS GO RANGERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. paulronty says:

Lundy is in the zone—he’s got the eye of the tiger.

  45. HOF 19 says:

About 2 more minutes and they will pull their goalie .

  46. Spozo says:

I’m gonna have an heart attack here

  47. paulronty says:

    Long live the King!!!!

  48. paulronty says:

    AV–use your GD timeout.

  49. Rangers Rock says:

At least, we saved Kreider for when we need him!

  50. Spozo says:

  51. HOF 19 says:

First that save Henrik made towards the end was (up to this point )THE SAVE OF THE SEASON and Round one is ours…….YES………YES…….YES…….YES…..YES……YES……YES……YES…..YES……YES…..YES….YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  52. Stevem says:

    Yeah baby!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. HOF 19 says:

As I type this NHL Network pouring compliments on Henrik……..Proper !!!!!

  54. Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

    YES!!!!! Never in doubt! 🙂

  55. Chris F says:

Best f@#$ing series I’ve seen in a long time. Great hockey, sensational goaltending, hard hits, fights, big goals. My God, as much as I hate the Habs, I’m going to miss this series!

    On to round 2!

    • paulronty says:

Ya that was a tong war & the Rangers showed real metal. If they play the Sens, I’m going to suffer because my family in Ottawa will drive me NUTS!!! Can’t lose that series or I’ll hear about it all year. Hank is HUNGRY!!

  56. Walt says:

Holy crap, there was a Stepan siting, WTF!!!!!!!!! That’s four down, and twelve to go.

Hank played on his head, and Price gave head!!!!!!!!!

This is one of the sweetest rounds that I can recall, next to the cup victory of course…………

  57. Rangers Rock says:

Funny Zucc swore in the interview.

  58. HOF 19 says:

Hope Ottawa / Boston goes seven….They can get some rest .

  59. HOF 19 says:

They just switched the lights at Empire State Buiding to Red..White and Blue…..Hope all have a fun rest of this night……LETS GO RANGERS !!!

  60. Hockey Sittoo says:

Sieveqvist you out there? You know what I’m looking for. The ball, or puck, is in your court. If you need help with the new handle you know where to find me…

  61. Peter says:

I was worried during the first period. But, after the 2nd started and I saw how they came out, I said to myself that they were going to win the hockey game and end the series tonight. Great effort again. They played, as Torts would say, the right way. Hank, Zucc, and everyone, great job!

Let us at the next victims!
