The Rangers have recalled forward Pavel Buchnevich from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Buchnevich was sent to Hartford on Tuesday, and really set off alarms for a lot of folks. But as expected, it was a simple paperwork and playing time move in the short term.
Simply put, the Rangers needed to get to 23 skaters on Tuesday with the Brendan Smith trade. Sending Buchnevich down got them to 23 skaters and allowed Buchnevich to play in Hartford’s game last night.
It’s expected that Buchnevich will be in the lineup tonight.
