Dan Girardi out two weeks with ankle injury

Update: Girardi will be out ten days to two weeks. Steven Kampfer has been recalled.

Original Post: The Rangers have announced that Dan Girardi will be out tonight, dealing with recurring effects of his ankle injury. With Kevin Klein still out, that leaves the Rangers with just five defensemen. Something is coming to address this, in my opinion.

That something could be minor, like a call up. But it could expedite a trade for the Rangers. Since missing out on Kevin Shattenkirk, the only rumor that has surfaced is the one for Brendan Smith.

My guess is that Jeff Gorton is working the phones for a trade, but has a defenseman form Hartford in mind. If nothing materializes, he will file the paperwork for an emergency call up. Just my guess. Or, of course, Klein could play.

    Maybe hes being held out for safety reasons. We all know how much hes in demand around the League. Wouldn’t want to damage such a valuable trading chip. (;

Maybe Graves gets a call up? would not mind seeing what he can do in the NHL

It is time to find out what Hartford has done to get some d-men NHL ready.

Gorton probably has been trying to make a minor improvement anyway so he might have something going. I wouldn’t mind them bringing up Graves. Let’s see what the kid can do. Maybe he is ready to make the jump.

Alex Ovchekin is now sad. His primary assist partner is now out of the line up.

Mark Streit (SP?) from Philly perhaps?

    Anybody interested in Fedor Tyutin?

  8. Peter says:

Graves is a big kid and a stay at home type who plays a physical game. Give him a shot!

And the hits just keep oooooon coming…..

I’m putting ope back in the box, hoping for Stellar Offseason #2 for Gordon, this time he works the D

They’re finalizing a deal for Smith now

Yes, and it sounds like a 2017 second round pick is the centerpiece, which is unfortunate.

I’d rather just roll with Kampher and call up Graves/Summers if more D are needed.

That timeline for Girardi is what it would be for an antibiotic schedule. One hopes it isn’t MRSA.

Maybe if AV had given G a week off for the stitches to knit instead of letting him be a warrior by sticking his foot in a sweaty boot, we wouldn’t be here.

But no, AV has to get every. Single. Point.
