It was another goalie duel last night, as Henrik Lundqvist and Frederik Andersen made difficult saves look routine on a regular basis. Both goalies allowed just one in regulation, and neither stood a chance on those goals. Both were magnificent in overtime as well, stopping chance after chance. It was marvelous to watch.

Aside from the goalies, Rick Nash was a machine again as he generated a lot of scoring chances. None found twine, but that’s more due to Andersen’s excellence. Honestly, I’m just going to gush over the goaltender performances in this game. As a goalie, it was so much fun watching this game and watching these two battle it out. If the Rangers do meet the Leafs in the playoffs, then it will be one for the ages.

On to the goals:

Leafs 1, Rangers 0

Jake Gardiner’s shot from the point was deflected by Tyler Bozak. The shot actually hit Nick Holden and bounced right to Connor Brown, who had the empty net. Kevin Hayes lost Brown, and Marc Staal lost Bozak. Not a good defensive shift.

Rangers 1, Leafs 1

Brandon Pirri one-timed an opportunity wide, and the puck rebounded right to Kevin Hayes in front. He put it close to the empty net, where JT Miller finished it right as the powerplay expired.

Even Strength Corsi

The Rangers really controlled play all night. Andersen is the only reason why the Leafs didn’t get demolished in regulation. But in overtime, it was both goalies.

THE GOALIE!

Ok I’m done, I swear. What a fun game, and it was great to get two points. On to the back-to-back over the weekend.
