Alain Vigneault juggled the forward lines for tonight’s game in Buffalo. Oscar Lindberg will be back in, and Brandon Pirri will be scratched. The full lines:

Chris Kreider-Mika Zibanejad-Mats Zuccarello
Jimmy Vesey-Derek Stepan-Rick Nash
Michael Grabner-JT Miller-Jesper Fast
Pavel Buchnevich-Oscar Lindberg-Matt Puempel

The defense pairings remained the same.

maybe this will spur the guys to produce and be more consistent

  2. Reenavipul says:

Considering the game Klein had Tuesday the fact that Clendening is scratched speaks volumes about AV’s evaluation skills as a former defenseman. SMH

    • Craig says:

Klein’s game Tuesday, may have been one of his worst games as a Ranger. He was brutal all around. AV should sit him tonight for sure. As bad as Girardi is, Klein has been worse in a number of games this year. Clendenning definitely should be playing in his place tonight. I don’t get it. In my opinion, AV doesn’t always alternate his players (defense and goal tending) rightly.

  3. rich s says:

1.Cant figure out why clendening sits and klein /girardi play….
2.When hayes returns……trade stepan before his NMC kicks in…..maybe ask for nothing back if they are willing to take girardi too…….
    3.When hayes returns—-Chris Kreider-Mika Zibanejad-Pavel Buchnevich
    JT Miller-kevin hayes-Rick Nash
    Michael Grabner- matt puempel-jimmy vesey
    mats zuccarello-Oscar Lindberg-jesper fast
    4.Dont trade core talent!!!!!!

  4. Hatrick Swayze says:

Excited to see Chris Kreider-Mika Zibanejad-Mats Zuccarello

Definitely time for Pirri to watch one. PP has been dormant and he’s less useful than some of our other players.

My money is that Buchevnich lands himself with other linemates before the game is over.

    • Rhodork says:

The lines could be good with one change: swap Buch with Fast.

Defense will still be bad though.

      • Hatrick Swayze says:

Looks to me like a handedness thing. Probably wants to keep him on the left. I agree that there is likely a better spot for him. Will keep an eye out for those elusive in game adjustments.

    • pas44 says:

I like Vesey, Step and Nash, I look for the kid to be pumped….

man if we had a better D!

      • Hatrick Swayze says:

Agree. If the team comes out flat, I’d look for a Vesey/Buchevnich as one of AV’s first moves.

  5. Peter says:

Happy to see Vesey and Nash reunited. It should help both Vesey and Nash.

Happy to see Buchnevich with Oscar because they have decent chemistry.

Happy to see Oscar playing instead of Pirri. He is a far better player despite Pirri’s decent shot.

Clendo ain’t great, but his skills at this point are better than Klein’s and I wish he were in there instead.

Let us hope for a solid performance.

  6. Mikeyyy says:

I’d switch butch and vesey. Vesey is tired and should have some minutes reeled back to keep him fresh.

Buch needs a shot at 2nd line.

    • Peter says:

I know I know, but Buchnevich’s skill set is such that he plays well wherever he is put. Vesey could use something to maybe get him going. That fourth line with Buch Oscar and Peumple has potential to be pretty darn good. I liked what I saw when he was with Oscar previously.

  7. pas44 says:

I want hank to kick a**

  8. SalMerc says:

I think these lines have more to do with giving defensive help to the back right than providing offensive fire power. This allows Nash, Zucc and Fast, all defensively responsible right wingers to support the right side so Girardi, Klein and Holden will get additional support.

If you think AV doesn’t know he has a bad defense, you are mistaken.

  9. Chris. C says:

You nailed it. Most excellent point

  10. paulronty says:

Well, juggling players around is a fact of life for Rangers. I like these combos better than what we had, however, for me I’d rather see Buch with Kreider & Z & Zucchie with Miller & Grabner & Fast to the fourth line. I have absolutely no use for Pirri, so I’m glad he’s out of the lineup & I’d put him on waivers when Hayes returns.

    • Jerry says:

Agreed! Lindberg over Piri all day anyday……………………….
Fast & Lindberg work well together and I, like you, would like to see them together.

  11. kris says:

Not shocked the forward lines changed, they were getting stale. Wont be suprised to see Buch and Vesey switch if that line isnt going.

I keep hoping Klein takes a page out Rick Vaughn (Major League 2) and ditches the man bun and goes back to the mohawk, maybe that will get him playing better lol.
