I am very proud of you I will see you on Saturday morning and then on Monday morning before I go to work so I can see you and brass because it seems he is better first thing in the morning.

    • Hatrick Swayze says:

….is anyone else as confused and curious as I am by these comments? The internet sure is a strange place…

    • Dave says:

I guess you know McDonagh personally?

I’m assuming you realize he likely doesn’t read this blog.

  2. Jared says:

Don’t get me wrong, I love McDonagh but I think this is wrong by the NHL. The Ranger deserving of the All Star Game is Zuccarello. (People say that Lundqvist should be in the lineup but then Jersey would not have anyone represented [representing Jersey I think should be Cammaleri])

Just because Giroux and Tavares have big names doesn’t mean they should go to the ASG. Okposo, Cammalleri, and Zucc have more points that Giroux, Tavares, and Saad. This 3v3 nature of this All Star Game has made it a forum for named players to go and not necessarily the ones that deserve to.

Shame on you NHL, shame on you… But thank you for no Crosby.

    • Hatrick Swayze says:

Agree with you, Jared. McD has been my favorite Ranger for a long time, but wouldn’t have voted for him to represent our team after his lackluster first half. He still hasn’t been as consistently excellent as his coming out party in 13-14.

Zuc should be our guy this year and I am pretty surprised he didn’t get the votes considering selections are determined by fan voting (or at least I thought that’s how it works).

      • Randy says:

Fans vote to select 4 players on each team, including the team captain. NHL committee selects the remaining players on each team, with the requirement that each team in the league has at least 1 representative.

        • Hatrick Swayze says:

          Gotcha, thanks.

Yeah, that system is booty. Par for the course, I guess…

          • Walt says:

I believe it’s that way in all pro sports, every team needs to be represented, and sometimes the best aren’t on these rosters !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Rangers Rock says:

This is outrageous! It’s like selecting AV as the best coach because he is a HOFer!
Some people judge by history and some people judge by what have you done lately. I do both, AV sucks because of his history (no CUP and stubborn) and I judge by how he sucks this year. Play the the best players!

  4. D Train says:

I can understand the choice of star power over production for the choices of forwards, but I think if a defenseman was the only option to represent the Rangers, then Yandle should’ve been chosen instead. He’s been the most consistent this year and he’s been producing more than any other D-man on the team. Don’t get me wrong, I love McD but he’s had a very average year so far

  5. Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

Totally surprising and ridiculous that McDonagh was selected. Which is why as a rule, I hate All-Star Games! Won’t likley be watching.

Better to cue up the old tapes of the ’94 Cup run, or my new favorite, the MSL OT winner vs MTL two years ago that I had the privilege of attending and almost fell out of the old blue seats! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Dunc!Dunc!Dunc! says:

Right on Rock! Glad to see there’s someone here who thinks like me. AV SUCKS!!!!!! Bring back Jean-Guy Talbot! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. y81 says:

Wow, three on three. The NHL All-Star games have already become high-scoring jokes; with this format, they will start to have basketball style scores.

That said, it will be entertaining. It just won’t be hockey.

  8. Ray says:

It’s all rather silly — picking an 11 man team with at least one guy from 8 different teams. If you start with the perfectly reasonable idea that Holtby, Ovechkin, and Backstrom belong on the team, then you get to pick 8 guys from 7 teams. Malkin is a no-brainer and then, you’ve got to have some teams represented by defensemen. They’re thinking, better McDonagh and Saad then Zucc and a CBJ defenseman.

  9. Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

    Quite a day!

Flyers trade Lecavalier and Schenn to the Kings for Weal and a 3rd rounder. Flyers picking up 50% of the salaries.

Mike Richards signs with Caps. One year, one million.

And we can forget about Johansen. He goes to the Preds for Seth Jones. Wow!

    • BOBBY B says:

Eddie, heard of these deals as they went down on NHL radio. I do not think blue jackets are done with their moves. Look for Tampa, The Ducks, Montreal, to be active, Rangers will have a few dance partners, a trade must be made to show no one is safe when the team is UNDERACHIEVING!!

      • Eddie!Eddie!Eddie! says:

I agree a trade will likley be made. Have felt that a big one may be coming. Still do. But I don’t believe it will be about “showing no one is safe”. Won’t be about sending messages, just very simply and unemotionally, if there is a chance to improve the team’s chances to win the Cup this season, they will deal. If not, they won’t.

  10. Matt S says:

Good for him. This his first all star game, so although he didn’t earn it this year he certainly earned it in previous seasons where he may have been overlooked.
