I’ll preface this short post by letting you know that this will be a rant. The Rangers game last night wasn’t pretty, and after reading Alain Vigneault’s comments about the current roster situation yesterday, one has to wonder if there will be changes tonight. But I think that this tweet I posted last night is really the most concise way to say how I feel about things right now:

Between terrible officiating (reminiscent of how the MLB playoffs are going, in several series) and Henrik Lundqvist giving us (me?) several heart attacks by coming out of the goal way too often, hockey last night was just plain rude. Then, to top it all off, in a situation where a shootout goal was necessary in order to continue the game, AV called out …. Dominic Moore??? I have so many questions.

WHY

WHY

Like where was Rick Nash? So what if he only has one goal on the season and the puck didn’t even hit the back of the net? He’s our marquee goal scorer. He needs to be put out there. I understand if AV wanted to keep him out of the spotlight, that he may be stressed, that it might mess with him if he had missed the shot. But I also understand that he is paid like an all-star, to be our all-star, and certainly to be capable to take a shootout shot when the team needs it. Sure, it’s October, but every single point counts.

Amen, Blitz

Amen, Blitz

Furthermore, how many other players on the team are more efficient goal scorers than Moore? I’m a Dom fan, for god’s sake I even have his jersey, but an elite goal scorer, he is not. I’m surprised he didn’t try the good old spin-o-rama to be honest. I could think of several other players who should have been out there, and it annoys me to no end that Moore was out there in essentially a skills competition.

Same

Same

Finally, let’s discuss Radko Gudas. Gudas, who is the Teflon Don of the NHL, did this to Viktor Stalberg last night:

It would appear that the principal point of contact was Stalberg’s head. Will Gudas be suspended? This is the second time in about a calendar year that he’s thrown a questionable hit that seems to be just on the edge. We know that DoPS typically won’t suspend unless the player on the receiving end of the hit is injured or a penalty was called on the play, so I don’t see a suspension coming. However, with Stalberg out for tonight’s game against the Flames, I hope to see some justice coming his (and Scottie Upshall circa last year’s) way.

As always, two points would right this ship tonight.
