Rangers re-sign Mat Bodie

July 17, 2015, by

Jeff Gorton has just one more RFA to re-sign (Derek Stepan), as he has inked RFA defenseman Mat Bodie to a one-year, $575,000 deal. Bodie’s QO was actually abode $900,000, but he took less at the NHL level to gain more of an AHL salary ($80,000, up from $70,000). This is a smart move on Bodie’s part, as he is likely to spend this year in the AHL. The Rangers have seven defensemen at the NHL level, and Dylan McIlrath/Brady Skjei appear to be ahead of him on the depth chart.

Bodie put up 5-27-32 in his first season in the AHL last year. He was signed as an undrafted UFA out of Union College.

Also, worth noting that War-On-Ice has the Marek Hrivik contract details: one year at $575,000. Hrivik also got a nice bump at the AHL level, going from $65,000 to $80,000.

Nice… having gone to Union, I’d love to see Bodie on Broadway at some point.

And its nice to see some professional hockey salaries I can finally relate to….. AHL baby : )

Just read that MDZ signed a two year contract with the flyers for $3.85 per, what were they thinking?????

Maybe he gave up chasing prostitutes, and decided to concentrate on hockey….

Kate Upton (unverified but wouldn’t at all be surprised if it was true) is no prostitute, my friend.

Del Z very possibly capitalized on that during her pre Justin Verlander era

MDZ wasn’t as bad as he was made out to be. The problem was one blogger went on a mission to call him “Del Zaster,” and since it was cute, people ran with it.

The dude could’ve put up 70 points in NY and he still wouldn’t have been appreciated.

Completely agree, FYI, Del Zotto had a better year than Fowler last year and will have a solid year again this year with PP2 responsibilities behind Streit

      Ha Ha let them.

#17 Pat Verbeek, and Brandon Dubinsky were probably the best to wear this number for us????????

Walt, I thought for sure you would have selected the very memorable Jerry Butler! 🙂

Didn’t the Big Whistle once say about him, “He couldn’t put the puck in the ocean if he was shooting from the edge of a pier”?
