Hello one and all. Seeing as the trade deadline is clearly already underway, let’s have a post to discuss all the latest league manoeuvrings. We’ll throw up a fresh post tomorrow as well and of course, we’ll let you know in a little more detail if the Rangers do anything.
1:00 I was away from my computer for a while but it looks like the Rangers are on the cusp of a huge deal involving Keith Yandle and sounds like Dan Girardi may be involved. Stay tuned. This could be an organisation shuddering deal.
1:20 Several reliable sources have confirmed the Rangers have completed a trade for Keith Yandle. What they gave up to do so is yet to be reported. Stay tuned! Consider the powerplay upgraded folks.
UPDATE: 1:22 Its all go for the Rangers. Reports now stating the team and Mats Zuccarello are close to a new deal. Should be announced soon. If this is true and Yandle doesn’t cost the earth this is an incredible day for the Rangers.
2:15 Curtis Glencross has been traded to the Washington Capitals for 2nd and 3rd picks in this year’s draft.
Another player that could have really helped the Rangers is off the board. Glencross would have been the ideal bottom six upgrade but the prices are high folks. Not sure he’s what Washington needed but he certainly helps their depth.
2:35 A quick update for those of you that didn’t know; former Ranger prospect Tim Erixon was claimed on waivers by the Leafs.
Obviously it was never an option for the Rangers but even Erixon would be a better option right now on the bottom pair wouldn’t he? (feel free to discuss this and anything in the comments).
4:30 Trade confirmed. The Rangers have acquired Keith Yandle sending Anthony Duclair, a 2016 1st round pick and John Moore in return. Despite being linked to deal Dan Girardi is not involved. Twitter has exploded.
