The New York Rangers are back on the east coast tonight, taking on the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh. The Rangers swept their three-game trip out west, extending their winning streak to four games. Before their 4-1 win over Toronto the other day, Carolina had lost six in a row. They are a bottom-feeder in the Metro Division, and this is a home-and-home the Rangers need to take advantage of, turning those games in hand into points in the standings.

Carolina ousted Kirk Muller from behind the bench over the summer, and replaced him with Bill Peters. Other than their game at the beginning of the year, I haven’t watched much Carolina hockey. They used to be a passive team, playing a 1-2-2 hybrid trap and a low zone collapse, and it didn’t appear to change much under Peters. If I’m wrong, please let me know.

Scheduling note: I’ll be unable to watch the game tonight (prior commitments), so there may not be a goal breakdown for this game.
