Zipay: Kreider may be ready for second round

Per Steve Zipay, injured winger Chris Kreider will likely miss the first round of the playoffs, but should be ready for the second round should the Rangers advance:

Chris Kreider (surgery on left hand March 28) is progressing and the 17-goal scorer should be ready if the Rangers advance to the second round.

This means that the Rangers will need to dress Jesper Fast (or Dan Carcillo) for the entirety of the first round.

Why have they called up JT Miller?

    • Chris F says:

Hartford didn’t make the playoffs so he’s probably part of the taxi squad callups that travel with NHL team during the playoffs.

They also may be keeping him on the back burner in case they feel they need his scoring touch.

Carcillo is tough and Fast is defensively responsible, but let’s face it, neither are likely to produce much offense this series. If they feel the offense drying up, they may use Miller as a spark plug.

Miller won’t see any playing time unless there are injuries. He has to prove to AV that he earned the time on the ice, and is willing to do whatever it takes to win!!!!!

Av said a few things directed at JT to try to get across what has been lacking in is preperation and game it may be his way to get him to raise his level of commitment so I think he will play and rise to the occasion.
