Kreider out a month with hand injury

Sorry this is late folks. Per Bob McKenzie, Chris Kreider has a hand injury and will be out around a month. Kreider missed all of the third period and overtime against Phoenix on Monday night with the injury.

The timing of the injury couldn’t come at worse time, as the Rangers are gearing up for a playoff run. This won’t affect their ability to make the playoffs, but it will affect their ability to score once the playoffs start.

"Kreider out a month with hand injury", 5 out of 5 based on 3 ratings.

  1. Does this open a spot for a top 6 forward (Miller, Haggerty) to slot in or do you think the Rangers insert Carcillo on the fourth line and reshuffle combinations?

Would you prefer to flank Stepan with Nash and MSL, or is it in our best interest to space out our talent?

Maybe Pouliot slots in Kreider’s spot as, to me, he plays the closest to how Kreider did.. wing with some size and a shot.

Then again, there is always the logical- insert Hagelin (here).

    Thanks, Dave.

    • No one has been recalled, so my guess is that Carcillo and Dorsett skate tonight against the Flyers. Putting Haggerty in there now would be a tough spot for the kid.

I have no idea what the line combos will look like.

  2. I read about the injury, but I did not see where they think it will be a month. Flyer game may present some different combos on that first line. Who knows, maybe AV changes up a few things and gets MSL going somehow.

    • Sal,

Bob McKenzie reported on Twitter that Kreider was injured and would be out a month. Various blogs and news outlets picked up that report and ran with it, with the only source being McKenzie.

The Rangers confirmed the injury to Kreider, but are only reporting that he is out of the lineup tonight. I’m sure more info will emerge from the team. McKenzie, I’m sure, has a source with the team that confirmed the month prognosis.
