Stepan, St. Louis with the flu; Miller called up

March 24, 2014, by

Per Andrew Gross, Derek Stepan and Martin St. Louis will be game time decisions tonight. Both are battling the flu. J.T. Miller has been recalled on an emergency basis in case one or both cannot go tonight. Since Miller’s call up is on an emergency basis, he will not count against the four call ups allotted to teams following the trade deadline.

Well this couldn’t come at a less opportune time. Rangers riding 3 straight wins, they need to keep the foot on the gas.

Hopefully at least one of these guys can go tonight. I don’t at all mind Miller taking someone’s spot tonight, though. He’s been really good in Hartford and as the playoff push continues, I can see him being really energized to make an impact.

Either way, both players have the flu. Wether they play or not. It’ll certainly affect then during the game. Dorsett had the flu after he played the one game in Columbus. I guess he gave it to other players. I hope this doesn’t run rampant throughout the team. Real bad time for this to happen.

I always wondered about all these players with the “flu.” Do actually have the flu or it is just a catch all term they use when ever someone is ill? I understand the travel and wear on the body makes athletes much more susceptible to flu, but you would think that they use some preventive measures (i.e. flu shot). Maybe they are just not enough?
