Game 66: Minny is good, please don’t come out flat again

The Rangers came out flat in Carolina, and they were just dominated in every facet of the game. They didn’t deserve to win that game, but they can’t repeat that kind of effort tonight against a dangerous Minnesota team. I use the term dangerous loosely, as they can’t score, but they are still a team bound for the playoffs (likely). The goaltending situation in Minnesota is pretty dire, as Josh Harding and Niklas Backstrom are sidelined. Ilya Bryzgalov is the guy backstopping the Wild now.

Under Mike Yeo, the Wild run a 1-2-2 forecheck which they use aggressively or conservatively depending on game situation. In the defensive zone they use a low zone collapse pretty much exclusively. The Wild prefer to attack the opposition’s blueline with speed so the Rangers are going to have to be good defending the rush tonight and not leaving Talbot on an island. On special teams, the Wild run an umbrella power play and a diamond force penalty kill.

When is AV going to split up Kreider and Nash. Each need either or Zucc MSL or Hags ontheir line Preferably for me would be
    Kreider BR MSL
    Hags Stepan Nash
    Poliot Brass Zucc
    Boyle Moore Carcillo
Carcillo Boyle Dorsett or Car Moore Dorsett
And think we also need to give Diaz a game to what he brings to the table . If he came just for ins for the playoffs , we need to get to them first . . Does he fit with AV or not , can’t wait for the playoffs to find out

Hags on line 1, Kreider on line 2.

Well the last 2 games the Rangers seem to be lacking the confidence they had built before the Olympic break. They are trying to make ridiculous cross ice passes again to no avail. They kept trying it in Carolina and again tonight. They need to play the game without MSL and just let him play his game. The players seem to play like he’s gonna take the game over. He’s a great playmaker but cross ice passes won’t even make it to him. Especially the way they were forcing them. The Wild are not that good. This should have been 2 points. Now the Rangers are loosing hold on 2nd place. Now Winipeg is a must win tomorrow and the Rangers have trouble with them. Certainly in Winnipeg. Canada hasn’t been kind to the NY Rangers.
It also looks like the Rangers PP has gone stale. Maybe they haven’t practiced it much lately. It needs to win some games for them like this game in Minnisota.

Another Ranger loss. St Louis so far a bust. And the Rangers traded away what draft picks they had left to get him. Good grief.

    • Spozo says:

Surprisingly the bolts are doing worse than the rangers since the trade. Maybe both teams should have just played out the season as is!

      • Bloomer says:

agreed…still don’t know why Sather had to pull the trigger…the Rangers lost draft picks and are crappier
