The Rangers enter tonight’s game on a four game win streak. Edmonton is a bottom feeder again. Pittsburgh is tomorrow. Naturally, this is a trap game. The Rangers are at risk of looking ahead to their big divisional matchup. Problem is the Oilers are very skilled and can take advantage of that. Their goaltending got a lot better by adding Ben Scrivens, but they still can’t play defense to save their lives (142 shots against in 3 games coming into this!).

On the ice, Dallas Eakins coaches the Oilers in a very similar fashion to Patrick Roy and the Avalanche, so you will see a lot of the same tonight that you did on Tuesday. On the forecheck it is a straight 2-1-2 without sitting on leads. In the defensive zone, the Oiler play man-on-man, but also drop to a zone depending on puck location and situation. On special teams, the Avs run a 1-3-1/overload power play and a box penalty kill.

Rangers Lineup:

Chris Kreider-Derek Stepan-Rick Nash
Carl Hagelin-Brad Richards-Ryan Callahan
Benoit Pouliot-Derick Brassard-Mats Zuccarello
Brian Boyle-Dominic Moore-Dan Carcillo

Ryan McDonagh-Dan Girardi
Marc Staal-Anton Stralman
John Moore-Kevin Klein

Cam Talbot gets the start.

Scratches/Injuries: Derek Dorsett (broken leg), Justin Falk (healthy)

Game time is 7pm on MSG. Don’t forget to check out our Rangers Tickets link for deals to attend games

This is absolutely a trap game, but I think we will know a lot in the first 5 minutes. If we play like we did against the Avs, no contest. If we let Edmonton dictate play in our end, we could be in for a long evening.

Look for Moore to score a goal tonight, just sayin.

which one? and which Moore will score more?

That’s what I was gonna say. Sort of. Yours was a little more clever. The fact that we get scoring from the 4th line is huge. Boston can’t even match that depth anymore. I don’t think the Rangers come out flat. I think they’re having too much fun winning.

Callahan was on the PP at today’s morning practice according to Lisa Cohen.

Talk about not wanting it tonight. I’m 0-8 at home this year. Should I not go anymore ???
