Rangers sign draft pick Anthony Duclair

Sorry for missing this yesterday, but in preparations for the storm I missed this signing. The Rangers signed 2013 3rd round pick –and big time talent– Anthony Duclair to an entry level deal yesterday. Duclair is the first Rangers draft pick from 2013 to sign a deal, although that comes as no surprise. Duclair was a huge talent headed into the draft, but questions about work ethic and declining production caused a slide to the third round. This year Duclair has been on fire, with a line of 31-26-57 in just 37 games.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed at the moment (first year of the deal is likely 2014-2015), but the 18-year-old will not count towards the 50 contract limit until he hits the AHL (minimum age: 20 years old).

Another Gordie Clark gem. He & Buchnevich may make last year’s draft very memorable with no 1st or 2nd rounder.

They did very well with their picks last year.

How could you justify saying that? NYR draft history going back 20 years has been atrocious. See 2003 (Jessiman)…or even 2000 with 2 1st round picks (Brendl,Lundmark) that were busts Marc Staal off the top of my head is the only 1st round pick to make a long term contribution to the team…Bobby Sanguinetti Joe M: “Sam, wait til you see this kid”…bust… Has any NYR pick besides Staal and a tiny few other made the team in the last 20 years lol?

The book on this kid is fast skater, but a bit on the small side. Needs to work on putting some muscle on his frame, and learn to play both ways!! Hay, this kid is a diamond in the raw!!!!
