Staal, Callahan with Rangers on road trip

December 27, 2013, by

Per Seth Rothman, both Ryan Callahan (knee) and Marc Staal (concussion) are with the Rangers on the current road trip. Staal has been out since the December 7 loss to New Jersey, and Callahan since the December 10 loss to Nashville. Staal has been skating for a few days now, and it was rumored that he would return on this road trip. Callahan was supposed to be out 4-6 weeks with his MCL sprain, so news of him traveling with the team is a bit of a surprise. The team needs both of them back in a hurry.

Good news on the home front!!!!!

Callahan has always been a quick healer. Probably from all the experience he has had being injured all the time.

Stall’s return could mean the end to MDZ

Yeah and he has recovered and returned quicker than expected but only to return to IR. He should take what time he needs to heal the knee and come back totally healthy rather than rush back to play at 75%. He is one of the few righties on the team so he’s valuable in that sense alone.

He had shoulder surgery, then a broken thumb, then a sprained knee. I don’t see any correlation there that suggests rushing back from one injury lead to another.

It’s always been different injuries. Shoulder to start the year, then a broken thumb, then a sprained knee. I could see your point if it was always the same thing.

Hockey is a physical sport injuries happen. Its not like baseball where a player misses 2 weeks because of a bad sunburn. I rather have a player on my team that plays balls out and gets hurt from time to time then a player who avoids contact to save himself.
