Miller, Falk in; Del Zotto, Pouliot out

Per Larry Brooks, Benoit Pouliot’s time in the lineup has come to an end. The recently recalled J.T. Miller will take his spot in the lineup, skating with Derick Brassard and Carl Hagelin. The other lineup change is Justin Falk in for Michael Del Zotto. It appears Alain Vigneault is matching Del Zotto and Falk based on opposition. The Devils have a little more snarl in the lineup, so the tougher Falk dresses.

Derek Dorsett is still battling wrist issues, and is not playing tonight.

Falk is more physical then MDZ, but needs to be better in his end. Nice to see JT on the 3rd. line he will add energy that Pouliot lacked. I imagine the Devils will go with Snider in goal.

The Rangers have to get some traffic in front of him as he does have difficulties seeing the puck when he is screened. This is a game the Rangers need to win. If they can’t beat the mediocre Devils at home, they may as well call it a day.

The problem with this move and one that AV has held off on making because Pouliot is a righty. He plays LW but is still a right handed shot. Miller would be a 3rd Lefty on the 3rd line. They need a righty badly if not 2. Even if one of them is a depth player and a healthy scratch on most nights. If Pouliot is waived, someone will pick him up. Before this season he was one of the leaders in the NHL in P/60 mins of ice time. He’s a righty LW and a skilled player with a cap hit low enough for a team to take a chance on him. I’m surprised he has been as bad as he has but he needs to go. He’s holding back the bottom 6. Pyatt is big & cheap enough that he can stay in the press box as a 13th or 14th forward.

Wouldn’t a better approach be to bench him and see if he responds?

It’s taking time but you can actually see av molding his roster

If lefty/righty is a priority, from which side does Kristo shoot?

    • ThatGuy says:

      Pouliot is a lefty

    • Frank Cerbone says:

Benoit Pouliot is a left handed shooter….has always been a left handed shooter, will always be a left handed shooter. Vigneault has mishandled Pouliot, is attempting to destroy MDZ, will then move on to Hagelin, then JT Miller.

As far as this move is conserned, it’s long over due, and let’s hope AV gives the Miller kid a real shot at playing!!
