The Rangers kick off December with Winnipeg coming to town. This game starts the first of 10 11 at home, with just 4 of them coming against teams in the playoffs. If there was ever a time to make a run, now is that time. With some key wins, the Rangers could really put some distance between themselves and the bottom-five teams in the division. They are healthy. They are playing (somewhat) well. This is the time to make their run.

Claude Noel has the Jets playing a 1-2-2 forecheck and will have them play passively in the neutral zone or aggressive in the opposition’s zone based on time left in the period and the score. Their game plan is generally to sick back and score off of transition rushes or by crashing the net after point shots. Winnipeg also plays a low zone collapse with four players, but will allow a skater to pressure the points, though they’re a bit of an adventure in their own end. On special teams, the Jets run an umbrella powerplay strategy and a simple box penalty kill.

Rangers Lineup:

Chris Kreider-Derek Stepan-Rick Nash
Brad Richards-Derick Brassard-Ryan Callahan
Carl Hagelin-Dominic Moore-Mats Zuccarello
Benoit Pouliot-Brian Boyle-Derek Dorsett

Ryan McDonagh-Dan Girardi
Marc Staal-Anton Stralman
Michael Del Zotto-Justin Falk

Cam Talbot gets the start.

Scratches: Taylor Pyatt (healthy), John Moore (healthy)

I’m thinking they stick with Nash-Step-Kreider.

    • Dave says:

I’ll update the lines when the game starts. I assumed these were the same lines as Saturday.

  2. Spozo says:

Well that was really surprising. They couldn’t string together consecutive well played games. I’m completely shocked.

  3. Rangers Fan in Boston says:

Nothing is easy with this team

  4. joe719 says:

This team is just too soft!!! Constantly out muscled tonight. Just no real physical presence at all. I thought Staal and Stralman really struggled tonight. Add to that the play of MDZ and another soft game by Giradi; how could they win? I think a trade is coming. Win one, lose one is just not gonna’ cut it! A really disappointing loss!!!!!!!

  5. Tim B says:

Slats probably regrets not resigning John Mitchell at this point.

So when does Kristo get called up??? Pouliot is worthless at this point. Even though he played well tonight.

  6. Bloomer says:

Pouliout was good, I liked how he stood there and cheered on Callahan, as Cally drove head first towards the goal to poke in the even marker.
Too many perimeters players on this squad, time to shake it up and infuse some hard asses into the lineup. I like how Scotty Upshall is playing right now, I wonder if the old cigar chomper can pry him out of Florida?

  7. Lou says:

Softness is galring as are the few guys that cant do “sheet”.

Brassard, Pouliot, MDZ all gotta go.

    Team needs 1 tough Dman,
1 tougher grinder forward with balls,
1 tough center with grit and hitting
