You figure that the Rangers won’t shoot 5% all season, right? At some point, that has to regress to the mean of around 9-10%, right? Well maybe tonight that will start correcting itself against a Dallas Stars team that has allowed 56 goals over 20 games (2.8 GA/G). Considering how the Rangers played against Boston, you figure a team that doesn’t have Tuukka Rask in net would allow some of those shots to hit twine. Of course, these are all assumptions. Execution is key.

Good ole Lindy Ruff is behind the bench in Dallas now, and he has the Stars playing an overload 1-2-2 forecheck and a 2-1-2 forecheck depending on the score. In the defensive zone, Dallas tends to overload. The Stars also run a 1-3-1 powerplay and diamond/box hybrid penalty kill.
