Per Dan Rosen of NHL.com, New York Rangers captain Ryan Callahan has stated he will not be ready in time for the season opener on October 3 against the Phoenix Coyotes. Both he and Carl Hagelin had offseason shoulder surgery. Since Cally is expected to miss the opener, it is expected that Hagelin will miss the opener as well. That means the Rangers will need two additional forwards at the start of the season, either in the form of veterans (Darroll Powe, Arron Asham) or kids that impress in camp.
