Per Andrew Gross, day three of training camp (day two of on-ice activities) was divided into three groups, with each group comprised of a mix of kids and vets.  The day was spent doing drills. The line combinations used during camp saw kids skating on lines with vets, a good way to help build confidence and measure them against current NHL standards. Also per Gross, the lines for the first group were as follows:

Michael St. Croix-Brad Richards-Mats Zuccarello
Benoit Pouilot-Derick Brassard-Josh Nicholls
Ryan Bourque-Dominic Moore-Shawn O’Donnell
Anthony Duclair-Andrew Yogan-Derek Dorsett

Per Leslie Treff, Conor Allen (defenseman) was skating in a group with the Brassard line, and looked very good skating alongside Brassard and Nicholls. She specifically pointed out that Allen’s instincts were solid. She also noted that Dylan McIlrath looked good on the ice following his bad knee injury last season. I’d expect him to get a long look at camp, this is an important year for him.

The second group consisted of the following players (per Gross):

F Arron Asham, D Stu Bickel, F Brian Boyle, D Justin Falk, F Jesper Fast, D Dan Girardi, D ryan Graves, F Micheal Haley, G Johan Hedberg, F Marek Hrivik, F Chris Kreider, F Danny Kristo, F Oscar Lindberg, F Brandon Mashinter, D Ryan McDonagh, D John Moore, F Rick Nash, D Brendon Nash, D Sam Noreau, F Darroll Powe, F Taylor Pyatt, G Cam Talbot

Also per Treff, Chris Kreider and Taylor Pyatt looked impressive in the second group. Some of the other prospects (Ryan Graves, Oscar Lindberg) also had some strong shifts.

Not much was noted from the third group, which consisted of (per Gross):

Group C: F J.T. Barnett, G Marty Biron, F Ryan Callahan, D Charlie Dodero, D Troy Donnay, D Ben Fanelli, F Carl Hagelin, F Michael Kantor, G Jeff Malcom, F J.T. Miller, D Jimmy Oligny, F Jason Wilson, F Klarc Wilson.

In injury notes, Miller was back after tweaking his hamstring yesterday. Biron was back after missing the first two days for personal matters. Derek Stepan was notably absent for a third straight day.
