Playoff kickoff open thread

The playoffs are here, and you have three games to choose from tonight for your enjoyment. Chicago (#1) and Minnesota (#8) drop the puck at 8pm on NBCSN, the Kings (#4) and the Blues (#5) also play at 8pm on CNBC, and the Ducks (#2) and Red Wings (#7) play at 10:30pm on NBCSN. Personally, I’ll be watching the Kings/Blues.

If you’re not into non-New York hockey, then the Yankees and Mets are both in action tonight as well. Use this to discuss whatever your heart desires. Or you can just watch the video above over and over again.

As if drawing Chicago wasn’t enough, the Wild lose Niklas Backstrom to an inexplicable warm-up injury. Poor kid Harding has to start. This could really put a damper on the Wild’s already bleak chances.

Gives Harding a chance to shine. Harding is probably the best backup in the NHL.

I just wish Columbus was in instead of Minny, but at least the Mecca of American hockey get’s to see playoff hockey.

Blues and Hawks in OT. The Coup Le Stanley is up for grabs and many teams could upset. I think often in the playoffs unless one team is much more talented then the other, it is the team that wants it the most that wins a series.

And of course I fell asleep early, missed both OT games. Shame on me.
