Around the Farm: Hrivik notches two assists in win

December 13, 2012, by

Marek Hrivik, a prospect that most fans have heralded as another undrafted gem, had a strong game last night, notching a pair of third period assists in the Whale’s 2-1 victory over Worcester. Hrivik was credited with the secondary assist on Chad Kolarik’s game-tying powerplay goal 1:23 into the third period, and picked up the primary assist on J.T. Miller’s game winner five minutes later.

At the other coast, the only other prospects in action last night were Shane McColgan and Michael St. Croix, both in the WHL. McColgan added to his impressive totals with a goal and an assist in Saskatoon’s 5-1 win over Moose Jaw, while St. Croix notched another assist in Edmonton’s 5-2 win over Kamloops.

Check after the jump for full scoring lines from the Whale and the WHL prospects.

    Still concerned with Kreiders production.

    • Dave says:

I wouldn’t be too concerned. It’s his first pro season, there’s an adjustment period. Even McDonagh needed half a year in the AHL.

The Whale aren’t really a good team, so it’s Kreider’s play without the puck –we know what he can do with the puck– that matters.

  2. Jess says:

Agree with Dave on Krieder as people need to have some patience with him. Kreider is having to adjust his game to the professional level.

McColgan’s numbers aren’t that impressive; he needs to do better than he has if he wants a pro contract.

St. Croix is not producing like he did and he comes close to breaking out only to stop and tread water.

FYI Thomas Spelling is in France playing for Team Denmark at the IIHF Under-20 Championships Division 1. Spelling is 3rd overall in scoring with a 1-7-8 after 4 games.

He has not looked bad at all

Shane McColgan made me eat my words tonight with a 1-2-3 evening with his goal being the game winner.
