This feature took a bit of a hiatus due to Sandy, the Nor’easter, and work. But have no fear, it will be back as a daily post starting today.

Sam Noreau is not a noted scorer. He’s a solid defensive defenseman who is counted upon to shut down the opposition. However, this year he is adding some offense to his game. It’s not exactly a surprise to see CHL veterans start adding more offense as they get older. After all, this is a league of teenagers, and as players grow (literally), they start performing better.

Noreau is no different with his offensive numbers, as he tallied a goal and an assist in last night’s 7-1 domination over Shawinigan. That ups his offensive totals to a line of 5-12-17 in just 21 games. As a comparison, this matches Noreau’s output from all of last year in 58 games.

But Noreau isn’t about offensive contributions. He is already a +11 rating this season. Although I am not a fan of that statistic, it does provide some value for players that receive a significant amount of ice time. Noreau is showing vast improvements in his game, which is nice to see.
