Sorry for the delay folks, but Frankenstorm and previous plans prevented us from being timely with the farm updates this weekend.

Over the weekend, the Whale managed to play some strong and consistent hockey, beating both the Hershey Bears (3-1) and Providence Bruins (6-3). In the first game, Ryan Bourque got his first goal of the year in the third period, with other goals scored by Brandon Segal and Tommy Grant. Matt Gilroy, Christian Thomas, Kyle Jean, Marek Hrivik, and Logan Pyett all notched assists.

In last nights game against Providence, the Whale showcased some of their offensive talent, lighting up the Bruins for six goals, including four in the second period. Goals were scored by (in order) Ryan Bourque, Chad Kolarik, Chris Kreider, Logan Pyett, Tommy Grant, and Kris Newbury. Cam Talbot played both games, and looked solid in net.

In the NCAA, Steven Fogarty had a two goal game last night in Notre Dame’s 3-2 win over Northern Michigan, ND’s second win over Northern Michigan in as many days. Boo Nievees (Michigan) was held scoreless in Michigan’s series split with Miami (OH). Brady Skjei (Minnesota) did not play this weekend due to minor injuries.

In Sweden, Jesper Fast notched a goal and an assist in HV71’s 4-1 win over Modo, and Oscar Lindberg was held off the score sheet in Skelleftea’s 3-1 loss.

Finally in Canada, Peter Ceresnak (OHL – Peterborough Petes) was held off the scoreless, but that’s not his game. He contributed solid defense in the Petes’ 3-1 victory over Saginaw. Sam Noreau (QMJHL – Baie-Comeau Drakkar) was a +2 rating in Drakkar’s 3-2 shootout loss to Sherbrooke on Friday night. Noreau, who as Jess mentioned is one BAC’s alternate captains, has been playing solid defense all year. While not a noted scorer, Noreau’s defensive ability should not be overlooked.

Michael St. Croix (WHL – Edmonton Oil Kings) notched a goal and an assist in last night’s 5-3 win over Kelowna. Those points give St. Croix a line of 9-11-20 in 14 games thus far.
