Around the Farm: Three prospects held scoreless

Three prospects were in action last night in Canada and Sweden, and all three (Jesper Fast, Peter Ceresnak, Sam Noreau) were held off the scoresheet, but Noreau did finish with a +1 rating. Neither Noreau nor Ceresnak are noted offensive defensemen, so seeing them held off the scoreboard isn’t all that surprising.

As for Fast, he’s still among the goal scoring leaders in the SEL. See below for the line scores.

  • SEL
    • Jesper Fast (HV71, L 2-0): 0 G, 0 A, Even, 0 PIM
  • OHL
    • Peter Ceresnak (Peterborough Petes, L 5-4): 0 G, 0 A, -2, 0 PIM
  • QMJHL
    • Sam Noreau (Baie-Comeau Drakkar, W 8-2): 0 G, 0 A, +1, 2 PIM

What you left out was that Noreau played a solid game even though he did not score, this season he has worked his way up to top pair defenseman.

Noreau is also an assistant captain on the Drakkar. That 8-2 win was also the first win for the Drakkar in Quebec since 2/2008.

Sometimes it is what is not on the scoresheet is just as important as what is. Right now Noreau is one of the most improved Ranger prospects this season.

Unfortunately I do not have the ability to watch the games, only to see the results.

Ceresnak/Noreau aren’t scorers, so I’d expect that they are playing solid games. Noreau seems to be the better of the two for now, based on what I’ve read.
