Cristoval “Boo” Nieves, the Rangers second round draft pick this year, made his debut for the Michigan Wolverines last night. The touted prospect played on Michigan’s fourth line (remember: they roll lines evenly) where he had a decent game in the Wolverines 5-4 OT loss to RIT. Although he finished with a -2 rating, Nieves still managed three shots on goal and won both of his face offs. He did however negate a potential powerplay by getting called for embellishment, his only two PIMs of the game.

Something to remember about the Wolverines, they just lost their best defenseman Jon Merrill for an indefinite amount of time with a cracked vertebrae. With minimal experience in net, the Merrill loss will have a big effect on the rest of the club.

After the jump, check in on Oscar Lindberg, who is still lighting up the SEL.
