Connecticut is trimming its roster in preparation for their season opener this Friday, and that included trimming the roster by 13 players. Four players will skate for the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL, while nine were cut and released from their training camp tryouts.

Assigned to Greenville (ECHL):

Defensemen (1):    Steven Delisle
Forwards (3):         Ryan Flanigan, Danny Hobbs, Jordie Johnston

Released from training camp tryouts:

Goaltenders (2):     Bryan Hince, Kyle Rank
Defensemen (3):    Kyle Haines, Colten Hayes, Brent Henley
Forwards (4):         Andrew Courtney, Scott Tanski, Nicolas Tremblay, Francis Verreault-Paul

The moves leave 28 skaters in Connecticut, including three goalies:

Goal (3):           Jason Missiaen, Scott Stajcer, Cameron Talbot
Defense (9):      Sean Collins, Matt Gilroy, Sebastien Piche, Sam Klassen, Dylan McIlrath, Jyri Niemi, Blake Parlett, Logan Pyett, Mike Vernace.
Forwards (16):   Ryan Bourque, Tommy Grant, Micheal Haley, Marek Hrivik, Kyle Jean, Chad Kolarik, Chris Kreider, J.T. Miller, Kris Newbury, Scott Pitt, Brandon Segal, Kelsey Tessier, Christian Thomas, Shayne Wiebe, Jason Wilson, Andrew Yogan

With this many skaters, it is expected that the Whale will have one more round of roster cuts before the final roster is set for Friday. Expect at least one goaltender, one defenseman, and two forwards to be cut from the Whale and sent to Greenville.

It’s worth noting that J.T. Miller is still with the club after a strong preseason. Miller was the only player that the Rangers had the option of returning to his CHL team (Plymouth Whalers of the OHL). With his strong play, it’s expected that Miller will at least begin the season with the Whale in the AHL.
