wow kind of steep but he deserved a raise he played well for us in the playoffs

not steep at all…look at the contracts signed ie carle…suter

Right in line with what most of us expected, which means he is probably underpaid by NHL 2012 standards.

At $3.4 mil, for two years, that is a fair contract. Look he did a good job after he made the adjustment to the Rangers in the regular season, and then was on the top five in the play-offs. He also did a very good job on the offense during the play-offs as well, again a fair contract as a reward that he earned!!!!

This was a great sign Perfect price for this player. And he only started to reach his game this year.

On unrelated note, Semin to Carolina… not unexpected, but I am surprised he took another one-year deal. Given CBA reality, I would take more years and less average money, but if he clicks with either Staal, look out.

I’m sure the rangers didn’t come near this (if they even were in the hunt). Semin will earn more than Lundqvist this upcoming year. That’s all that needs to be said about the rediculous price Caroline paid. The only thing Carolina got right about this signing is the 1 year deal.

he seems to like one year deals, might keep him motivated. im surprised he got that much, no one doubts his skill and i agree could still score 40 easy. just i know a bunch of us were saying about 4 no more than 5, but course that was to fit with this team

I like this. Stralman is a feel good story. I didn’t expect to even see this guy and the ice but he is another great example of how tortorella runs a real meritocracy. He stepped in, played well, and steadily earned his way into a regular roster spot. Good for you Anton.

I like the deal a lot — figure he plays 12-15 minutes a night, some PP time here and there, under 2 million, another nice move by Sather by NOT over-paying a player.

How he’s managed to keep each defensemen for under 4 million a year with all those crazy contracts being handed out these last few summers is beyond me. Keep up the good work!

hometown discount, plus offensive d men make way more than 2-wayers and defensive dmen. MZD will be the highest paid player in the contract after the one hes about to receive, assuming his development continues
