Preview: It all comes down to 5-on-5 forechecking. The Devils have been excellent at executing their aggressive forecheck and pinning the Rangers in their zone for prolonged periods of time. The Rangers were the masters of forechecking during the regular season, but have slowly seen that aspect of their game erode as the playoffs have progressed.

The Rangers need to dig deep and rediscover that ability as a team or it is going to be more of the same. This means winning faceoffs, better outlet passes from our defensemen, and better puck support from our forwards. All hands on deck. No scapegoats. Let’s go.

Crazy Thought: Rangers start strong and finish strong.

  1. Bad decision by Torts. Mitchell is battle tested and brings just as much to the table as Dubinsky who’s hardly a savior!Dubinsky has had a terible and overpaid season will probably be traded and heaven forbid may actually hurt himself trying to be a pseudo tough guy!I’m afarid this is a Tort’s CYA tactic which will have no serious impact.

    • if the decision to play mitchel or Dubinsky on the 4th line is the deciding factor in this game than the rangers are already screwed.

      • Have to agree with Spozo here. If the dressing of Dubi over Mitchell means that they lose, then they lost long before this game started.

  2. Sure it’s not feds-boyle-prust? I understand whu dubi is on the 4th line. They mught be working him back slowly like staal. Also i would laugh if dubi or arty score and finish strong seeing that they have been inconsistent and are both on the 4th line. I would like to see boyle go on a scoring rampage like he did against ottawa. I also want to see feds return to his 2003 self.

  3. Dubi has historically played well against NJD, plus I like him better for the PK. And the fact that he just plain hates them doesn’t hurt.

  4. This is NUTS Feds has brought nothing to this team in some time. He no longer has it. And Mitchell should be in instead…

Torts has not had this team ready to play in this series at all. And has made bad calls as well. Newbury should have played in game 4.

Lets see if Torts can do something more then just call one good time out…

  5. I’m not surprised that Mitchell gets the Prucha treatment, but it’s really tough to cut the guy that was leading the team in RCorsi.

    • but I do like the DAC line back together, and the hags-kreider line is gonna fly…I think I like em

      • Agreed, I can see those top two lines being productive. However, while aware that his play warrants a demotion, seeing Gaborik on the third line makes me uncomfortable.

  6. The 3 goals have been because of a defensive breakdown, a fluke, and a weak goal. Devils aren’t dominating, they are just capitalizing.

    • Unfortunately, that’s all it takes, though Dave. This Rangers team simply can’t find the back of the net… yet somehow need to get at least 3I more tonight. Tall order.

  7. Stevie wonder could have stoped all three of those goals. And so could the so called King if he was playing like he did untill game 4
