WCF Game Three Open Thread

Here’s your open thread for the night. Yotes/Kings are on at 9pm, with the Kings leading 2-0. The Yankees (vs. Blue Jays) are the only local team in action tonight. As for basketball, you have the Pacers/Heat and Clippers/Spurs tonight.

Discuss whatever your hearts desire, just keep it civil.

I’d like to see a pro-Torts chant at the Garden in game 5, just to send a message to the media and to the League that we, the fans, support Torts’ results on the ice, and we don’t care how insensitive or unaccommodating he may be to the petulant press corps. I’m getting tired of hearing these on-air personalities state that the press conference reporters are a conduit between the team and the fans and they deserve answers. These incompetent blow-hards aren’t writing for me, they’re not providing any insights that I can’t figure out on my own. I’ve watched this game my entire life, I don’t need sore-loser Larry Brooks or senile Stan Fischler to feed me my perspectives.

Does Gabby have a history of response after such a prolonged benching?

    • Chris F says:

I think so. Can’t think of any specific benchings, but if I recall correctly, he’s bounced back after facing Torts’ wrath in the past. During HBO’s 24/7, he went out and scored a goal right after Tortorella really lit into him.

Another one: what does the apparent loss of Pavel Valentenko mean for the NYR’s future?

    • Chris F says:

For me, personally, it means very little. Valentenko couldn’t make it out of camp, has been underwhelming in Hartford and the Rangers are stacked on defensive depth.

      • Chuck A says:

I’m sure the development of MDZ & Big Mac predicated his flight to the KHL. Any compensation for him?

      • MBN says:

        I agree.

Means very little in the overall scheme of things. I think that other prospects rank above him on the pecking order and he probably sees the handwriting on the wall.

I’ve been reading this blog for over a year now, almost never comment, but have been noticing you’ve been putting preds/kings when you’ve had these open threads lately. Just wanted to point it out.
