The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded 29 year old forward Antoine Vermette to the Phoenix Coyotes for a second round pick in this year’s draft, a conditional fifth rounder in 2013’s Draft and Curtis McElhinney, a minor league goalie.

Vermette, who plays C or LW, is on pace for a 10 goal/36 point season. In 2009-10 he put up a career high of 27g/65 pts. Vermette has three years left on his contract at a $3.75M cap hit.

With less than a week to go before the deadline, we are going to make an effort to put up short posts on trades of note. Though the news may not be Rangers related, it’s good to keep tabs on who is going where and for how much. Obviously these moves paint a bigger picture of what’s happening with the trade market.
